Periyar Water through Pipes: In continuation of our Kerala tour, we reached Thekkady from Munnar. Thekkady also have a number of tourist attractions and people going or coming from Munnar make it a point visit Thekkady. Our accommodation ws booked in advance in Thekkady so we stayed overnight in Thekkady. On the way to Thekkady there are some tourist spots enroute and accordingly our travel driver stopped on the way and from there we had to book a separate jeep to go.
We went around and on the way the guide showed us huge pipes on the hills coming down and we were told that through these pipes the Periyar river water comes and the water is used for agricultural purposes and also for other utilities. From there the guide took us to a place where the pipe waters goes. We were told that the water from periyar dam goes to Vaigai river basis. They are very beautiful and you can see in the images.
