My Village

I come from a village called Panchali which is under Pachipenta, Mandal Srikakulam district and at a later stage the number of districts were increased then Pachipenta  has come under  Vizianagaram district (now again in 2022 the districts were increased then the  Parvathipuram Manyam district was created) of Andhra Pradesh, India.  Nearest town is Salur which is four kms.  Panchali population as per wikipedia is about 4000.

Panchali is a small village and most of the people live there depend on  agriculture. and they grow many crops including rice, cereals, millets, sugarcane, groundnut, and also all sort of vegetable cultivation.  They also grow fruit yielding trees.   Tobacco plantation is also done here as this and sugarcane and groundnuts are cash crops.

Nearest town to my village is Salur which was that time Block  – now they call it Mandal .  The surrounding villages to my village are Mosuru, Gurivinaidupeta, Mathumuru, Thaduru,Pudi.  In the vicinity of  Panchali you will find beautiful mountains.

Communication wise – Most people used to go by walk and some use bicycles and now also bullock carts are used.  In my childhood days hardly see two wheelers.  Now, it is accessible to all the connections i.e. motorbikes, three wheelers and buses etc are plying in this route.

Panchali has a reiver Vattigedda and at that time we used to get water only from the river and some places have wells.  Now a days mostly borewells and taps are used in addition to the river water and wells.

Panchali has various castes and creeds which an Indian village one will find – we have Kapu, Karana, Naidu, Brahmin, Mala, Komati, Kummari and many other.

Education wise my school days we used to have school upto 7th standard and children from nearby Mathumuru, Mosuru, Gurivinaidupeta also come to study in Panchali as in these villages only upto 5th standard was there.  Now in Panchali you have High School upto 10th standard and for further need to go to Salur.

All the festivals are observed including Panduga, Dusserah, Mahashivratri, Nagula chavithi, Rathayatra, Vinayak Chavithi, Karthika Pournima and so on.  You will find lots of temples.  Ammavari panduga is also observed.
