Kathakali Dance at Tekkady – On our way back from Munnar we stayed one day in Tekkady and spent the day visiting various tourist places around. We purchased tickets in advance for the Kathakali dance programme.
We were lucky to visit the Yodha Center at Tekkady and when we reached there in the evening there were many visitors like us occupied the place. We were sitting in front of the artists of Kathakali. There were the artists, tabala player and also singer with a musical instrument.
Kathakali Dance at Tekkady : The first artist shown us all forms of Kathakali art showing the movements of fingers, eyes, eyelids, lips, nose and other bodies parts to show the anger, the smile, the laugh and so on.
The artists asked us to join them and try some movements. Some of us went to the stage and did the eye movements and so on.
Initially one artist performed and then, two artists with Kathakali attire and make up. At the end of the show, we took some photographs with the artists. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will remember for a long time.
