In spite of working for two decades in NGO sector i.e. Oxfam UK, managing large projects and hundreds of NGOs, and managing natural disasters like 1999 Super Cyclone managing and coping up with the stress and also managing a large number of national and international teams during super cyclone and thereafter, I was very nervous as i am new to the new organisation.
Though i do not know or met Jessinda (Jessi), her husband Mathew used to work with Sateesh my another nephew while he was with Save the Children project in Kalahandi. She was friendly and co-operative though we are professionals and we need to perform. Jessi used to be in Admin and Logistics in HIV/AIDS Alliance.
I had induction with staff members for few days and i was going through information about the organisation, its work and the projects, standard of practices, and so on while having meetings one to one meeitngs with the team for few days.
I spend most of my time initially with my senior in the same position Ramachandra (we fondly call him RC) i.e. Field Support Officer (Finance). He explained me the work and the projects and the systems, guidelines needs to follow etc.
After few days, i was assigned some projects that i need to look after. So i had to go through the files of all these projects and have introduction with the concerned NGO team members on phone before planning visits to field to understand and monitor the projects.
