Houseboat experience at Alleppey – We recently had the opportunity to stay in a houseboat in Alleppey, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we got into the houseboat, The houseboat attendant is very friendly and co-operative. As soon as we reached the houseboat we were allocated two separate deluxe rooms.
The houseboat has spacious and comfortable rooms, all having air conditioning and attached toilets. From houseboat we can see both sides where other houseboats are floating on waters.
Our journey on the houseboat began around 1 P.M, after we arrived Alleppey from Tekkady. The boat took us along the black waters, both sides of the houseboat we can see small villages people doing their daily routine. Some places we see songs playing on speakers. Along the way, we stopped at various spots where we could buy tender coconuts, biscuits, and other local snacks.
We had our lunch on the boat first floor which is meant for dining and also to watch the blue waters while the boat moves. Also some music was also played. Some hindi songs and malayali songs.
One of interesting things of this trip was when the boat took us to an island where we had the opportunity to see the natural beauty. All along we see so many boats going and coming from the other side. On the way on boats itself there were different shops. At one shop they were only selling tender coconuts and we all in the houseboat purchased and drank the coconut water and also ate the tender coconut.
They also stopped in one Ayurveda place where one could see the medicinies and other ayurvedic products and some bought. While going further we see a spa where they stopped for some time for us to have a spa if anyone interested and some of our group got down to have spa.
In the evening we returned to the banks of the river, where some houseboats chose to stay overnight in the middle of the waters. However, since we had an early morning flight from Kochi, we had to disembark around 8 pm. The crew arranged a candlelight dinner for us, complete with roses on each dining table and music playing in the background.
We thoroughly enjoyed our houseboat experience at Alleppey and anyone visiting this part of Kerala should make it a point to stay in houseboat to enjoy the blue waters.
